IC Information:
Name: Homura Akemi
Fandom: Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Timeline:Timeline 3, shortly after she starts to steal weapons from the Yakuza
Age: Unknown, but appears to be roughly 14
Appearance: Homura stands about average height for a young teenaged girl. She has waist length dark brown hair which she wears in long pigtails. Purple eyes. She tends to wear a schoolgirl outfit most of the time.
Also an image link is fine too.
Abilities: First, Homura is a magical girl. In the Puella Magi Madoka Magica world, that means that she has been given special powers. This power stems from their soul gem, which holds Homura's soul. By putting the soul in a new container, the old body is capable of enduring more. Her Soul Gem is capable of regenerating her body quicker than that of a normal human, and because it is where her soul lies, she will not truly die if her body is destroyed. However the soul gem is extremely fragile, and can be destroyed in a single blow.

Homura also has the power to manipulate time via a special shield that she uses in battle. Homura can use her shield to stop, slow, and even rewind time. While time is stopped, Homura can move around freely. If she is touching another person when she stops time, they will be able to move as well. The shield also can store a seemingly infinite amount of items of any size. During the show, Homura was shown to store items ranging from pistols to huge GBU-28 Missle.

In addition to all the crazy time abilities, Homura's shield actually functions as a shield.
Personality: For the most part, Homura tends to be incredibly independent. Her parents are never shown throughout the series, and its heavily implied that she lives alone. She's shown as being able to take care of herself and doing paperwork. This independence can also make her something of a loner. She's not shown to have many friends, not because she drives them away but because she's socially awkward and shy. It's shown with Madoka and Mami that she's capable of having normal relationships, it's just that her shyness generally prevents those kinds of relationships from forming.

For the friends she does have, she's dedicated to them. This can be seen in her relationship with Madoka. Madoka was one of the first girls to actually reach out and try to be Homura's friend after her heart problems. It also kinda helped that Madoka saved her from the witches that were going to kill her. It's implied that they hung out often after that, and she was present when Madoka fought Walpurgis Night. When it was pretty much guaranteed that Madoka would die in the fight to stop Walpurgis, Homura desperately pleaded with Madoka not to go fight even though if she didn't the world would be doomed. In a group situation, she would gladly place the needs of her friends of the needs of the many.

She's wholely dedicated to Madoka. When Madoka died during the first timeline, Homura's wish to Kyubey was to meet Madoka again and protect her. She trains with Madoka and Mami, and they both serve as mentor figures to her. She holds a great deal of respect for them, and it could even be said that she idolizes them. There's very little that she wouldn't do for either of them.

For Homura, the ultimate good is to protect those that you care about. Under Mami and Madoka's direction, she tried to hone her time stopping potential in order to better protect her friends. If becoming a better magical girl was a part of that, then she'd become a better magical girl. She moved onto pipe bombs as her primary offensive technique. When they proved to be too dangerous to her friends, she switched over to firearms. Early on she steals from the Yakuza, mainly small arms like pistols and shotguns. However by the time the series ended, it's obvious that she had been stealing from the military as well. To her, this was perfectly acceptable because she was using the weapons to defend her friends.

She's also a very precise individual. She's shown to make her own pipebombs. The precision needed for such a task is quite precise. Too little explosive and the effect is minuscule. Too much and the bomb is far too volatile. The fact that she added complex detonation systems also lends credulity to this. She has steady hands, and she's never had a dud explosive. In the heat of a battle such a mistake would be deadly, so she won't let it happen. She's self trained too, relying on guides she found online. She's resourceful as well as self reliant. While there might be times where others protect her, it's only because she's defenseless. She's always striving to protect others, and she isn't the kind of person to let another worry or fuss over her.
History: Homura lived the typical schoolgirl life for the most part until a serious heart condition. She was hospitalized for about six months, during which she made a full recovery. She was transferred to a new school, and started playing catch up. She quickly made friends with a girl named Madoka, and they swiftly became friends.

One day while she was walking home, she was assaulted by some strange creatures known as witches. Homura lacked a proper way to fight against them, and was saved by Madoka and another girl named Mami. This only served to strengthen her bond with Madoka, and she was present when Mami and Madoka went to fight Walpurgis Night. Walpurgis Night is a witch of massive destructive power and serves as the primary antagonists of the series. Mami and Madoka both died, but in the end Walpurgis was defeated. It was at that time that Kyuubey approached Homura. Kyuubey would grant Homura's wish to meet Madoka again and protect her, but in return Homura would be forced to fight witches for the rest of her life. Homura gladly accepted, and gained her time shield which let her go back in time.

So she meets Madoka all over again in the second timeline. She trains with Madoka and Mami, and she eventually settles on using bombs in combination with her time stopper. They fight against Walpurgis Night together. Mami dies again, and Madoka's Soul Egg is corrupted to the point where it shatters and Madoka transforms into a witch. Shocked, Homura travels back in time once again.

During the third timeline, two new Magical Girls show up: Kyouko and Sayaka. Sayaka works together with Homura, Mami, and Madoka while Kyouko remains distant. Homura befriends Kyouko, but the other girls remain wary of her, especially Sayaka. Given that Homura was also trying to tell them that Kyuubey had tricked them, she was regarded with suspicion. Eventually she started stealing from the Yakuza in order to have guns to fight with. Bombs were too risky in a large group. It was soon after this point that I'll be taking her.
Roleplay Sample - Log: Homura's glasses glinted as she counted out the needed grams of black powder. Of course she hadn't picked it up in the local convenience store. Even if they had sold it, they probably wouldn't have let a young teenage girl purchase it. Instead she had to rely on homemade product, and procuring the supplies to make it had been a challenge. She had visited five different stores, taking the greater part of her day. Most guides recommended using a ball mill, but unfortunately those were too expensive and rare. Big companies could afford and use them, but she was only a teenage girl. A teenage girl with an iron will and the resourcefulness that the internet provided, but a teenage girl none the less.

She had decided to use a blender instead. There were of course dangers involved in mixing a highly volatile explosive with a fast moving metal blade, but then again what wasn't risky? When mixed in small amounts, the process was safe enough. Tense to be sure. But safe given then nature of the end result. The mixing had taken longer as a result of the smaller batches, and it was well into the night when Homura finished. She had been tempted to go to sleep then, but she couldn't. Who knew what the next day would bring, and Homura refused to be caught off guard.

So here she sat, the dim light of the computer flickering on her face as she counted the powder out with a yawn. Everything after this was fairly simple, if potentially dangerous grunt work, and it was another half hour before she finally finished. The day's work had only produced three usable bombs, but that would hopefully be more than enough.
Roleplay Sample - Journal: [The feed cuts on to reveal Homura in the rec room. Judging by the pile of books around her, she's been scrounging around the bookshelves. A few of the titles are visible, and it's obvious that she's been reading some pretty serious science textbooks, particularly chemistry. She gently lays a hand on them and gives a sheepish smile as she starts to talk.]

I checked here like some of you suggested, but I'm afraid I don't understand a lot of what these say. A lot of it is confusing, and most of my experience is with practical chemistry. If someone would be willing to teach me, I know I would greatly appreciate it!

This game includes horrible mental and physical torture of your character. After reading the rules/faq for clarification, how do you expect your character to handle this and continue to function? We actually get to see what happens to Homura when she's put under a lot of stress and/or mental torture in the anime. She'll become more reclusive and less social. She'll also become more dedicated to her friends, willing to go to any length to protect them.
