I need all opinions

Ok Tuesday I was told that on Sunday me my bible study teacher and two brothers would all have a talk about me becoming an unbaptized publisher. I was so thrilled so excited until my teacher was mentioning that I may not be ready. She even mentioned to these brothers the way I had been introduced to this religion. Now my teacher seems to think ( Read more... )

Dont you dare switch. One this puts your progress back so far because someone new will have to learn who you are, what you need, how to study with you. This puts things back farther than you want them. The brothers and sisters are entitled to there reservations, its natural for them to be a littel cautious. You simply have to keep on giving them no reason to continue to be so. If you switch then it will almost be as though your avoiding the situation. You must most importantly have a LONG discussion with your teacher about your intentions and your convictions to the truth. And to your man really. Because he is a part of this. And if your inentions are true, and you pray enough about it, and you make it your goal to become a publisher than jehovah will see to it that it happens. But prayer and discussion are the keys here. So swithing good idea? Heck no, not in my opinion. But its just my two pennies.

It's no surprise to me. Like ichab0d said, caution is typical. Whether or not it's about the boy, the thought has crossed their minds that the young couples are having problem these days because of rushing into things. If they make you wait, consider it a test. Depending on how you react will tell them what your true intentions are. You'll be ok. I've learned to take council, advice, admonition, whatever more experienced ones say, with a smile and an OK! =)

our teachers know more about our spiritual progress, sometimes, than we do. she's just being cautious cause she wants to make sure you know what youre doing. dont take it in a bad way. imo, even a year and a half is not enough for some people. it sure wasnt for me, and i didnt even have a man envolved. if you switch, there will only be more reason to say no. perhaps they will think they have even more reason to think that you are doing this for nathan. but if you are patient and obedient, they will be able to see that you really are doing this for Jehovah and for yourself. if youre not doing anything for the wrong reason you dont have anything to worry about right? Jehovah will be able to see that.

I think the three comments before me have really said it all.

If you want to disprove that notion (and don't read anything personal into the notion; like they said, it's cautionary), you need to continue at the pace you have been and prove by your persistence that your devotion is first and foremost to Jehovah. Just because we may get accused of a crime doesn't mean we run away to another country. We stand our ground and advocate the type of person we really are. Your situation is a much MUCH milder version of that.

My thoughts. :) shortyfrye September 9 2005, 16:52:21 UTC
That is why you talk to the elders when you want to become an unbaptized publisher. They can pick up on things like what your reasons are - in fact they might straight out ask you that. If they decide you aren't ready to be one then they will tell you and you should really listen to why they make that decision. It's really hard to switch bible study teachers. I've done it twice-not by my choice. The first two sisters I studied with moved. I've been studying with my current teacher for almost a year now and she still doesn't know me. I learned the other day that she doesn't even know my last name. It's a huge setback for me. I'd say stick it out with your teacher and maybe express your concerns to her. But it's very important that if it comes down to the point where she is interfering with your spirituality, then put Jehovah first and find someone else. Hope this helps. :)
