227. We had a post-Pennsic meeting of the Debatable Lands Medieval Consort. Fun playing, but still only the same three people. Looking for more people and ways to generate more interest. I go for about my height or a very little bit higher (unless you plan on fighting Angus a lot, in which case just go hit a telephone pole and use the transformer at the top to represent his head). If you're using it exclusively for slow-work like the smart people say, you shouldn't need all that much padding (carpet or camping mat). If you are going to hit it with some force (like I do sometimes because it's fun), you need a bit more.
Just put enough on there that you don't get too much hand-shock when you hit the thing at the speed you intend to use it for. Cover the whole thing in duct tape. Use different color electrical tape at different levels to act as targets.
"I'm going to hit the pell at green on the right side and immediately follow it up with a strike to blue on the left." That sort of thing.
You putting this in the ground or are you keeping it in a Rubbermaid box or something?

I'll probably just grab a shovel and put it in the ground for a little bit. Later, I'll put it in some kind of weighted base for portability.
I think I should probably make the pell a few inches higher, as more people are taller than me than are taller than you.
