aww, maggie that really makes me sad. i feel really bad for you. i know exactly what it's like to lose a really great pet. the very first pet i ever had, willie the dachshund, was a year older than i was. he lived for 15 years i think before we had to put him to sleep. i didn't know which was sadder though; having to put him to sleep or having to see him suffer through the last few years of his life. he couldn't even stand up to go to the bathroom without assistance from one of us because he had arthritis so bad and he could only see well enough to know when he ran into something. after he was put to sleep, i cried for about a week before i realized it really was for the best.

anyhow, i know what it's like and what you're going through. i hate the emotions that come with losing a pet, especially when it was like one of your best friends.

sadie was the same way. arthritis, eyesight, that kind of thing. she had it all. :( i don't think mom could bear to have her put to sleep, but we didn't want her to suffer either...it was a lose-lose situation.
