Romilda nodded. This will be fine, won't it? Ginny didn't seem keen on locking them up for hours at the time. Romilda couldn't deny she was happy about that. If Rita had been their guard, she would be sure to keep them locked up or to let them do her bidding. Yeah, Ginny would make a fine guard.

Rita was waiting for the worst. She didn't know why, really, but she'd seen enough people going power hungry over the years. And she hated the loss of personal autonomy.

But if Ginny was going to be reasonable, she could handle it. She hoped.

"That sounds... very fair." She struggled with the thought, but this was really exceptionally decent of the girl. Someone who didn't abuse her power? Rita was Slytherin, for Merlin's sake. She'd never seen anything like it.

"Thankyou for being so reasonable," she said.

"I don't think I could do it any other way" Ginny replied "I wasn't alive for the first Dark War, but I know there was plenty of power-abuse, on both sides... I'll bet you saw more than your fair share, while reporting. And then when You-Know-Who returned, everything went to shit again; the year when Snape was head of Hogwarts? Everyone saw enough abuse of power in the space of eight months to make them ill for a lifetime."

Rita let out a laugh, but there wasn't much humour in it. "During the first war? Yes. But well before that, too. I shared a dorm with Bellatrix Black."
