Merlin. This was hard. Who on earth was she supposed to nominate?

Her first thought was Ginny, not because she really wanted her out, bit just because the idea of nominating Neville just seemed wrong.

But...

Did she really want to spend a week cohabiting with Neville? That would be... well, incredibly bloody awkward, to say the least. It was strange enough having to live with him with others around, given her tendency to leave people she'd slept with in the morning before they even woke up.

She might have a chance of winning against Ginny, too. She didn't think she had a hope of winning against Neville - he was far too likeable. If people had to choose between them, there was no way they'd pick her.

On the other hand, what if one of them nominated her? If the public saw her stab Neville in the back after seducing him, wouldn't they be more likely to vote her out this week?

Merlin. Fuck. Rita stared at the parchment, then lifted the quill slowly.

I can't. She couldn't nominate him. Just couldn't.

With a sigh, she scribbled ( ... )

So here it was. The moment she'd been dreading. Three left, with one more to go.

Three months ago, it would have been easy enough; She'd have put Rita's name down without a second thought. But now? Well...

Rita had certainly been far more sociable than Neville of late. Maybe he *wanted* to leave? Ginny wasn't quite sure exactly what, if anything, was going on between Rita and Neville, but it had definitely changed the atmosphere in the house.

She scratched her head. This was so difficult!

...Neville will win it, she thought. If he's nominated, he'll dodge the bullet, and get voted to win the whole damn thing. And I might have a better chance of surviving a vote against Rita, if I get nominated.

So why faff around with breaking tradition? Alea Jacta Est, and all that.

Rita Skeeter she wrote.

Neville knew one thing and one thing alone. He must not end up left in the house with Rita and only Rita. He could only imagine what would happen then. The house with the pair of them in it.

Hoping desperately that someone had written down his own name, and that his votes didn't become public, he wrote Rita's name onto the piece of paper and watched it vanish. The last time.

He brushed his hands off on his robes, drying the sweat from him, then made his way out of the room, overwhelmed by a hot flush.
