Who: Everyone When: November 12th, evening Where: Sitting room, then back in the real world. Rating: G Summary: It's time for the contestants to leave the house.
Neville started, opened the door to the bathroom where he had been hiding and slipped out, his eyes finding Rita. He approached, slowly, licking his lips. It wasn't his fault he'd been avoiding her...of course, it was difficult to find novel ways to do so with the house so empty.
But it was time. It was over.
"Three?" he echoed, looking around. "I knew they'd lost their minds, but I didn't think it was that bad..."
Rita was half-annoyed, half disappointed when Neville emerged from the bathroom. He'd been in there a while, hadn't he? She'd hoped they might leave the house in some state of normality, with... she didn't know. She'd even been tempted to tell him to owl her if he ever wanted... well, she didn't know what, so she hadn't said anything. If he ever wanted to have a drink or something? Hardly. If he ever wanted some company? He'd proved this week that her company was the last thing he wanted. If he ever wanted explosive, animal, mindless sex? Probably closer to what she'd have been offering, but she didn't think he'd ever take her up on something like that once they were out of this strange fishbowl of a place.
She didn't know what to say to him, but the appearance of Ginny out of thin air was shocking enough that she didn't have to think about it.
"Ginny! But you... what...? What on earth is a teevee sitcom?"
Once the housemates had greeted each other and settled in expectantly, Big Brother spoke again.
"I trust you have all packed up your belongings. You will be leaving them here when you go. They will be sent to your homes by the time you return to them."
On the coffee table in the sitting room, a purple pyramid appeared with one side for each of them to touch.
"You will be leaving the house by portkey. You have fifteen minutes from the announcement of the winner before it becomes active. It will take you to the a reception at the Ministry, where the public who have watched you are waiting to see you emerge, and the Minister holds the prize. You may wish to say your goodbyes before leaving the house."
Silence hung for a few moments, then Big Brother spoke again. "The winner of Wizardwtch is Rita Skeeter."
Rita couldn't believe what she'd heard. She really... what?
The public didn't like bitches. They didn't. They liked having her in there, but they didn't want her to win. The Neville's of the world won things like this.
"I... what?" she managed weakly, and it only occurred to her a moment later to smile.

She looked at the others.
"And for the record, you two would be great as the stars of a Muggle TV SitCom"

Surely some mistake?
There had to be something more.
"You know, this could be one of Big Brother's strange tricks..." she murmured, surprised.

Ginny said...
Well, hearing that brought out the snake.
Rita laughed, unable to help herself. "I think it's past that point by now, don't you?"
