Books I Need To Read
because Rory said so
I feel pathetic, because I only read 2 books on the list, A Tree Grows In Brooklyn and Night. I have no deadline, and I don't need to read them all, these are just ideas. I'll cross them off once I read them.

Which ones have you read?

Hee, not very many. I know Hannah's read more of these than I have...

Let's see: The Secret Life of Bees, Sidhartha, The Scarlet Letter, The Great Gatsby and Huck Finn. And three were for school ;)

OK, I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't read a lot, because I though I was being deprived or something!

Yeah, for some reason, I haven't been required to read many of the classic "required" books... Also, I haven't really been in school much lately. That might explain some things. Though, I should probably just read some of those books on my own accord, you know :P

I've read the following:

David Copperfield by Charles Dickens
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
Hamlet by William Shakespeare
The Awakening by Kate Chopin
Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank
Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck
1984 by George Orwell
Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller
Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky
Lord of the Flies by William Golding
The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain
A Tree Grows In Brooklyn by Betty Smith

But you know what? All of them are required reading from school. I just happen to love reading so I've always been the one who reads the books rather than sparknotes.. haha.

Yeah, the two I'v read were for school, and I know I'm going to read more of them for school, because I've still got my whole high school career! I've also got to read this summer for a summer reading assignment, that's kind of why I was looking for book ideas- and then I found this on the Gilmore Girls website!

Yea a lot of the books on that list are classics, so I'm sure you'll get to a bunch of them in your english classes. I liked most of the ones I just listed, so if you want any recommendations just let me know :)

I've only read The Secret Life of Bees XD I got that this year as a birthday present from a family friend. I like the ending the best where she stays with them and her father calls her by her mom's name by mistake. It was really powerful.

But can I suggest a book? It's called Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. It ROCKS. It's got romance, vampires, and a girl who falls in love with a vampire who denys what he really is. ♥
