The M's won their home opener! 3 to 2 over the Angels in the 10th inning, Franklin Gutierrez led off with a double and Betancourt followed up with a base hit down the right field line to bring him home. Also, Ken Griffey Jr. had a base hit. Also also, ZOMG KEN GRIFFEY JR IS BACK IN SEATTLE! This could be an awesome year. Brings back memories, I haven't been this into the Mariners in more than a decade. I got free tix to the 5/3 game versus the A's, can't wait to go.
One of the nice things about working at Microsoft is that you get a free gym membership to
McAwesome Gym of Awesomeness. They have EVERYTHING at this place: three exercise rooms with a different light level in each, three swimming pools, a steam room (LOVE the steam room), a sauna, couple of hot tubs, squash and racquetball rooms, tennis courts, a salon and day spa (have to pay extra for those though), a shop, a cafe, a car detailing place (seriously!), and I'm sure some other stuff I'm not thinking of. I've been going there to work out three times a week for the last couple of months - don't need to lose weight, I just need less of said weight to be fat and more of it to be muscle. I don't get much exercise at work, and my hobbies include such strenuous activities as playing video games and reading books. Better health + more energy = good, plus on the shallow side I'm going to Hawaii next month and it would be nice to look good in a swimsuit. ;) Anyway, so far so good! I've had a couple of sessions with a trainer to get familiar with the gym equipment and track how I'm doing, and last time we redid my measurements and it looks like I've converted about 4% of my weight from pudge to hawt sexah muscles.
Sadly, work is boring. No regrets though, the pay and bennies are well worth it, and if I can't find my niche in this group, at least I have my foot in the door at MS. I'm thinking I might ask for my own office - sharing one now, and it's a lot harder to concentrate on scripting projects or studying with a couple of coworkers around talking, watching Youtube videos, etc.
Just finished Lost Odyssey this weekend (did I mention I bought an XBox 360?). OK game, but the drama was over the top in quite a few places, and the villian's motivations made no sense. I'm also just about at the end of Portal, which is a totally badass game. GladOS would be hilarious if she wasn't TRYING TO KILL ME. *hugs her Companion Cube for comfort* O_O
Now that I have lots of money coming in, I'm saving up for a new car. My Kia's getting pretty old and busted, over 150K miles on it now, and it's a stick so it's a pain in the butt when I'm stuck in traffic. Thinking about the Honda Fit - I haven't test driven one yet, but they've gotten good reviews, and I loved my CRX so another Honda hatchback would probably be perfect for me. Anyway, it'll be a few months before I save up enough. I want to buy it outright, or at least not have to finance more than about 3K.
