Neat, Cambria is the town where our first B&B on that trip was (up a long winding path of staircases up the hill). There was at least one wine tasting place in town there, and a pretty fun kids' bookstore. What did you have at Hearst? We discovered that the area is the originator of a meat sandwich called "tri-tip" that's pretty good, we ate those at Hearst when we visited. The elephant seals were very cool. Love the sounds they make, heh. -bill
I didn't buy anything at the Castle; most of us had brought our lunches. But yeah, the seals were pretty amazing (so many of them!). Several were having little dominance fights in the surf. (I imagine it's easier for them to maneuver in the water than on the land.)
