Citing your sources

After hearing about Zero Footprint several times in the press (they've inked deals with both Air Canada and the city of Toronto), I decided to check out their site the other day. After considerable digging, I could find absolutely no documentation on the economic or scientific model they were using for calculating an individual's carbon footprint. ( Read more... )

The footprint idea was first presented by two Vancouver-based social scientists. Given that Canada has a tendency to favour native concepts, the concept seems like it was unduly pushed in Canadian universities beginning in the mid-1990s.

Like "mental illness" though, it seems the general population has difficulty distinguishing between metaphors and physical effects.
