Hmm... well, two reasons, I guess. My impression is that they'll look bolder and more striking if they're all saying the same, simple message. And also, although it would be nice to have people putting things with more meaning to them personally, it's also the kind of thing that might put a few people off doing it - I know how bad I am at thinking of messages to put in group thank-you cards.
So I feel that, if we're doing written testimonials as well, the main purpose the photos would serve would be to catch the eye and provide a bit of (ugh, terrible phrase) human interest. I don't see any reason why some couldn't say something a little different, but it's good to have a standard to base them on too :)
