Steve's a lib dem politician; I assume he knows what he's doing and knows where the official link is and is doing it differently for a reason. Firstly, it's worth trying to make any sort of political fundraiser, or any sort of anything political thinking about it, go viral on the internet by linking it in multiple places and adding comment. Secondly, I think he's trying to information gather about whether people are prepared to give regular small donations rather than the one off donations which IIRC are more easily supported by the current way of donating. I haven't actually directly spoken to him about why he didn't link straight to the campaign page, so it could be just that he missed something; but he's usually pretty clued up.
OK, I'm sorry, I didn't realise that was what he was doing - it's a good plan & I've said so on his journal too. And I'm sorry if I've spoiled the viral thing by forcing everybody to explain the secret plan to the stupid badger. X-( As I've just said on steve_c's journal, I will gladly give to any/all campaigns to get Evan re-elected by any means possible!
Thanks for the headsup! I'm not on twitter but I'm sure some of the people reading this are likely to be - you might wanna make the suggestion a top-level post rather than a comment.

Surely best to use the official channel rather than setting up something new?
