I think you (and Brian Cox) have misunderstood the commenter's point, just as he has misunderstood Chivers' point. I was going to leave this as it seems a bit off topic, but I think the whole confusion is actually quite relevant to how Evan's enemies have tried to caricature him so it's worth unpicking

A fair point, and I likely didn't explain myself properly, but I didn't think he meant that we don't need any facts at all. To my mind, he was saying that a government's job is to place equal/as great a weight on subjective opinion as on proven, objective truths, but there are so many opposing values in most of these issues that I feel you have to place the most emphasis on what can be considered objectively true
