Another good option for skin funks of all kind (and hoof funks too) is equal parts listerine, apple cider vinegar, aloe, and water. Mix in spray bottle and voila!
Ah, thanks!! Erm, what kind of listerine? The plain yellow kind? (My first horse was a tobiano pinto who used to get scratches something fierce on his white legs, so I'd use this MicroTek gel stuff on 'em. Worked like a charm, but when I looked online to buy another bottle I about died at the price. Would much rather use something homemade!)
aloe is available from any health food store as a pure juice, which is easier to spray. Aloe gel is available at most phramacies for topical use -- check the moisturizer/cream section, or with the sunscreens (folks use it for sunburns).
I am looking forward to seeing Catching Fire, but probably after the holiday, too busy cooking and baking this week. :)

Living in the heavily populated Northeast, I don't think about how hard it is to get internet and such in places of vast stretches of land. Even though we are "rural" here, we can get just about anything.
