cottonmouthed

So it's just a kind of my second anniversary of having this lj (which means it's my cotton anniversary! yay, sheets) and being actively involved in fandom. As active as I am. I mean, I still sort of consider myself a lurker, just a lurker who...writes fic. And I wanted to say a few words about that, like, howdy, lurkers, don't be afraid to get ( Read more... )

suits, idle chitchat, inception, xmen, wip'd, teen wolf, coming attractions

When I saw you made a new post and there is something about Arthur and Eames again, I was like alsdjkgakjhg. And then you say these are just some wips and unlikely to be finished, my heart sunk. But anyway, I should be grateful to have these new pieces, thanks. Hope everything about your new fics going smoothly.

Yeah, sorry I can't give you something complete! I tried to offer some longer excerpts, though--and I would recommend taking a look at the second A/E excerpt, which is decently long and I think could be read as a standalone. I also have another A/E fic that I'm working on and didn't post an excerpt of, and the roommates AU is one I keep going back to and poking at and so might well get finished some day. So I wouldn't say they're all unlikely to be finished, I'm just not at a point with any of them where I'm confident that they will be finished, and definitely not in a timely matter. I have a few plates in the air right now (including IRL stuff) so--yeah, yep--and right now the fics I'm prioritizing writing aren't Inception (one is the original fic for s2b2 and one is a long fic for a very very small fandom).

It's okay, I am content with what I can have. Although I'm not familiar with other fandoms, I still feel excited about your original fic!

Thank you! Ugh, sorry I had to turn captcha on 'cause I was getting all sorts of spam comments and it was making me barmy.

I just tore through all three Inception fics and it made me miss how much I miss your writing, most particularly your Ariadne, because you write the best Ariadne in the business. You just have a way with shaping your words that is irresistible to me. Even if they never get finished (although I would read the hell out of them if they do), thank you for sharing these tidbits here. I love them, most especially the first one, and I'm uber curious about the third one, too. Happy two-year anniversary (mine is coming up, too, although I've been much less productive than you in that same period)

I love Adriane! So thank you :) Blergh--that first one is one I keep poking at, and I would like to finish it, I think. We'll see...like I've said. I'm partly posting these things because I've been poking at them for so long that I'm not optimistic about finishing them, but on the other hand, maybe putting tidbits out there will somehow give me the momentum I need? I don't know.

Anyway, hurrah for fannish anniversaries! As for productivity--well, every bit counts, and as they say, it's not quantity...

Meant as encouragement, not pressure, but that first idea is just so utterly unique, so you, that I can't imagine anyone else ever coming close to a story quite like that. And the worldbuilding you did in just that small introduction was sublime. It made me want to crack open your head and pull the story out, but, you know, not in a creepy way.

Ha! We'll see. That is encouraging, though--I'll have to take a look at that fic again. Right now I have about the first third written--it's a three part story (one part each from Eames's, Arthur's, and Ariadne's POVs) and--yeah. I wasn't entirely satisfied with the direction, but maybe I'll get some new insight (of course, that's what I hope every time I poke at it).

I heart your words. Seriously, the best part about getting to beta for you is that i get your words all to myself for a few days before i have to share them with the world. (Although i love sharing them with the world, too, because i get to go 'hey, look, this is my friend and their stuff is AWESOME.')

And the cowboy one, with Arthur and Eames... That sound you hear is every last one of my buttons being pressed (okay, it needs a sniper, but OTHER THAN THAT). GUH.

Also also, i don't even watch Suits, but i've seen a couple of episodes, enough to know, and Harveyyyyyyyyyyyyy.

<3 I hope this means that you might be interested in beta reading that original fic, if I can stop knitting and finish it in time ;)

The cowboy one! Honestly, I really liked that scene/set-up (though it was also difficult for me to write and I'm not sure I'm entirely satisfied with it), and am bummed that we never finished that fic because it never saw the light of day. UNTIL NOW. Derp.

tbh....I have probably watched fewer Suits episodes than I should've to be writing fic for it? And I haven't watched really anything this season. Which is probably why Suits is not a fandom I wrote a lot in. I am not phenomenal at keeping up with dramas, as a general rule; I tend to either want to mainline them on Netflix or abandon them in favor of something lighter. (Right now, the shows I am keeping up with, in no particular order: New Girl, RuPaul's Drag Race, Game of Thrones, Gravity Falls.)

Always!

It's a great set-up. I'm glad you posted at least this much.

Suits seems like the kind of show that gives you pretty solid characters right away, from the ep or two i've seen of it. Not that they're two dimensional, just that they're very fully realized, flaws and all, from out of the gate. But yeah, i know what you're saying. I've started a West Wing rewatch that i have my doubts on, as i abandoned it for Justified (and once i get over this 'watch it repeatedly until you know every line while writing copious amounts of fic for it' phase, i'm planning to watch Fringe next), and other than my one drama, i'm usually watching lighter stuff - Teen Wolf, Archer, The IT Crowd, etc.

I really enjoyed Fringe, though I watched it on DVDs from my library and I think they only had up to season...three? And I've heard it goes downhill at some point. On the other hand...most shows go downhill if they're around long enough.

You may be right about Suits--I think USA network shows in general tend to favor that format? But I haven't actually seen many of them, so...still, that's the impression I have of their shows.

Arthur/Eames! Joy! I particularly enjoyed the porny one :D

PORN. Chronologically, I think that was one of the first porny things I ever wrote, idek. But I was glad to post it here because I was sad we never finished that fic and because I think it kind of works as a standalone PWP, which makes this post feel a little less like random incomplete scraps.
