Fanvid Viewing

I really didn't want to make a post about this, but unfortunately I feel that it's only fair that I do.

It has come to my attention that while people are voting, they are not watching all of the fanvids. Over 30 people have now voted and there are vids that have only been viewed 5 times

Does it count as a view if you just watch it from the original post? Could that be why?

I couldn't get the popout player to work and I tried all my three browsers (Google Chrome, FireFox, IE). So I'm using the original voting post and just using the fullscreen option which does work. Is that what you meant?

OK, the vid page just crashed my entire display. I'm going to have to find updates for my graphics drivers, I think. Is anyone else having problems viewing these?

I'm going to add direct links so that people can go to the site and watch it there if they're having issues with watching them from the post.

I'm not sure if the counter catches every single viewing. I watched several of these vids more than once to try and narrow down my selection and the # of viewings hadn't changed when I finished watching.

I'm amazed you had to make a post about this. Does this mean people are only skimming past graphics and drabbles too? How can you vote if you don't take a look at the material?
I was excited to see the vids were up but it was already late for me and when my internet connection glitched, making the vids skips, I decided it would be easier and fairer to look over them tomorrow (ie today, when I've caught up on my email and friends list). I always take voting seriously, carefully making a short-list, then often agonising over choosing just the top 5 or 3 that the challenge allows.
I think it's good to give people points for voting as an encouragement, but not too many, otherwise people will be tempted to just randomly select entries without taking the time to choose fairly, regardless of the type of challenge.
Your solution seems the best option under the circumstances, it's a pity it's needed.

Does it count as a viewing if you only watch half the vid? Honestly I know that if a vid didn't catch me from the very beginning I probably wouldn't vote for it but I'd still watch at least half. I only watched the full vid for about 9 of them that had me interested from the start.

No, a half viewing should count.

If it is similar to youtube, it doesn't count unless the whole video is watched...the whole thing. credits and all. but I am not familiar with bam, so it could be different.

Yeah, I watched AT LEAST 50-60% of each video...so I hope that's counting! I admit that I did have to refresh the page a few times because videos weren't loading or were taking forever to buffer because I was already trying to load/buffer other videos :P It was a complicated process! Mostly, I just think my computer hates Bam.
