Beautifully said. It's so easy to flit and run and hop and jump from activity to activity, place to place, relationship to relationship, without ever figuring out why. It can be fine to do that if they're being done for the right reasons. But when they fill a void that you don't even recognize, they will always be ultimately unsatisfying.

Reading about your declutter reminds me of a holiday that a friend invented called Discardia. It's celebrated between the equinox and the solstice [or vice versa, depending on how long you want to celebrate :)] and is about letting go of stuff and ideas that you no longer need. There is something to be said for the middles-- funny how we're all a bit like those Japanese gardens.
