Both my grandparents were. I wish I had gotten them to talk more. What they did tell me, I remember well but I'm sure there's so much about them that we don't know.
She sounds wonderful! I like that she appears to have had sass, which I think our generation has sadly morphed into arrogance or bitchiness. We need to be more like ladies like her.
She was sassy. She would tell my grandfather to "chiabutch" (phonetic) all the time- it was Russian for shut up ;) She would also say the craziest things out of no where and we'd all look at her like "did she just say that??"
That was a great snippet of her life to read about.
I didn't want to write this last when I commented last, but I almost wrote your last sentence word for word before. My SIL's grandfather died Dec. 19th, her grandmother had died December 23, 2 years before. She told me the same exact thing - and that she thought her grandfather just didn't want to go through another December 23rd alone.
So sad, but so beautiful as well, they were together this year, and so were your grandparents.
