Next semester is shaping up to be the last time I have friends around here. It seems like everyone is moving away after that. Craig and Adam are. Seanie is. I think Ehren will. Sooner or later, Fretz and Courtney will leave. Chuckles will be here for awhile longer, I think, but I don't see him much any more. And I don't plan on hanging out with the ( Read more... )

God knows there are ENOUGH NOVA Skiffites to take over the town.

Courtney and I are both graduating this semester, but I've got my lease through the summer, so I'll probably still be in town for most of that time. It does seem like the current generation of Skiffy is wandering off, though...

Chuckles, of course, will remain in town until he turns 83 and wanders off to Florida.

Yeah, I've sort of wondered about that myself. What life will be like outside of the campus Skiffy area. Granted, I'll be close to Phil, Eli, Julie, and Julia, and possibly Adrien, but it'll be strange to no longer have dartgun fights and other events to see people. I can understand your concern though. Making friends outside of college is hard, especially in this area where the average age has to be over 35.

We've got the Pentagon, Army bases, intelligence agencies, and two airports to use during a Zombie run. Plus, we've got more mundanes to throw at the zombies as we make our escape.

I've made friends by continuing to hang out with college friends (who nearly all live here, because DC is where most of the decent jobs are) and by spending time with coworkers with similar interests. (You'd be surprised how many gamer nerds live in DC!)

It's really not that hard. It just takes time and sometimes loneliness first.

You presume that I have any social graces that allow me to...oh... talk to random people that I know. I just leave it to Adam to break the ice. I'm not antisocial, just socially insecure.

Thanks for the advice that.

My family is also a Tech-W&M family. We enjoy making fun of UVA. :-)
