Yeah and it was such a meaningful post too, wasn't it? I guess it had been since March or something - I hadn't realized that. Maybe I should post a short update on my life.

My favorite was always "Printer is on fire!" - there is a valid 'istorical basis for that message - it used to actually mean the printer was on fire.

I believe it was a speed issue - the old line printers, if run continuously at high speed, would heat up to the point it was possible for the paper to catch fire. As old parallel ports weren't bi-directional, the only way for the printer to save itself was to do something naughty to the flow control on the port...

Or so I remember.
