Time for an update

1st things first,
I can’t even put into words how amazing it was, but I’ll give it a shot… This was the best concert I’ve EVER been to. I was less than 10 ft. from the stage, Ben Harper played a three hour set (I’ve never seen a band play much more than 2 and a quarter before), the crowd was really into it and the band showed their appreciation for the fan support. I can only think of 2 songs that I would have liked to have heard but with the setlist I just can’t complain. There were some new songs played and of course great versions of my favorites from before. On top of the incredible concert, I was lucky enough to meet Ben Harper afterwards. Jon and I went to get some ice cream after the concert because it was sweltering hot. When we walked back towards the car, we saw the band’s bus at the rear entrance to the theater and a small crowd of 20 or so fans had gathered outside. We headed over there just as Ben came out of the bus and started talking to fans. We got to the front within about 5 minutes and talked with Ben for a minute or so (maybe the fastest minute of my life), got our pictures taken with him

(This is also my new facebook picture) and his autograph as well as with Leon the percussionist. This was only the 2nd Ben Harper concert I’ve been to and it was unforgettable. Let’s just say that this concert was so good, that I forgot about BNL for a night and have been listening to little aside from Ben Harper all this week.

Here is the setlist for anyone that cares:

When I got back from the weekend at home, there were
2 very nice surprises and we got them both for FREE

Yeah... as strange as it sounds my roommate Blaise got 30-something fifths of alcohol and a 52" big-screen TV from his cousin's bf's dad (or something like that. I wasn't really paying attention to the story because quite frankly I just didn't care how we got it). needless to say, they make a pretty good combo and I didn't even have to help move the tv into the house which must have been some hard work. bottom line, if anyone needed an excuse to visit me in Kalamazoo, the perks just got a whole lot better

I've been getting to the Rec Center a bit to work on my basketball game (or lack thereof) and its been working pretty well. Twice I was down HORS to H in a game of Horse and came back to win. I was also down 6-2 in a game of 1-on-1 and came back to win as well. Other than that, its been kind of a slow week. I had a debate in my Public Speaking class that I think I did really well on. I got to use the same research and paper (for the most part) as a debate I did senior year of high school. I'm really glad that the weather has cooled down a bit. this week was tolerable enough that I wasn't cursing the lack of air conditioning in the house. I think thats enough updating on my life for now
