The Western Herald mispelled my name in my feature (Campus Connection) in today's issue . last I checked, "jon" is not even close to the spelling of my first name. moral of the story is don't let drunk people (or in this case idiots) run production.

Today marks 10 years ago that Israeli PM Yitzchak Rabin was assassinated (ironically right after a peace rally). as much as I normally don't mark where I was when significant events happened, I will never forget where I was when I heard the news. Why Rap back then was better: I remember the days when rappers would fight over cool shit... and quite frankly rap was better for it. It added something to the music. not about how much G.W. Bush hates black people. the feuds were so much cooler. it was about the rappers themselves -

okay, here's why I hate texas... they pause for a moment of silence during the 7th inning stretch in memory of Rosa Parks. the "moment of silence" in texas appearantly translates into 5 seconds. just long enough for Fox to zoom in on some white lady old enough and wrinkly enough that she probably hated Rosa Parks.

A few quick things
Have you ever gone like 5, 6 years without hearing any sort of reference to a song and then you hear it 3 times in a week? Someone mentioned Louie Bega's Mambo Number Five last week and then I heard it on the radio driving home and then in the bookstore here. I had assumed I was in the clear and wouldn't have to ever hear that song again.

1st real update in a while
Came home yesterday for Yom Kippur. the fast wasn't that bad this year. ended it with a little Buddy's Pizza. it was delicious.
Been running into random people left and right. Hung out with Shayne last week for the first time in a year and a half or so. ran into Joe Marks tonight (WTF!). I seem to run into that kid twice a year like clockwork.

Simon Wiesenthal passed away today. For some reason, many people barely knew who he was or that it happened. This was a man who lost 89 members of his family during the holocaust and somehow didn't give up.
