As I woke up and peered out my tent I saw the sun high in the sky and it hovered proudly over the mountains. The clouds were painted delicately across the blue and snow covered everything with not a speck of green to be seen. Other than rocks, white was the only color visible. Mt. Zahora shown clearly in the sky with its jagged edges and deep crevices along the glacier. Why I wanted to climb this mountain was a mystery. It was early morning and freshly fallen snow frosted the tops of the rocks and glittered in the sunlight. The Alaskan Mountains were always one to shine bright in the sky. Mt. Zahora towered over all the mountains and stood out with its steep cliffs, a beautiful snowcap, and its never ending snow falls. The other mountains were like little lumps of snow, which made Mt. Zahora seem grand in comparison. The village in which I was staying in had only a few houses that lay at the bottom of the mountains and the natives had not woken up yet so everything was calm. Once in awhile a rock would fall or a glacier would split but most of the time Hanes, Alaska was absolutely silent. The Amahar glacier curled around the mountains, which made it seem like a never-ending road. It ended at Mt.Zahora and it climbed 1/4 of the way up the colossal mountain. All the people who had tried to climb the enormous mountain had failed until I had come. I tried to wake up Rick but he was sound asleep. The day had just begun and a new adventure would soon take its place.
