"I don't want school to start!! Summer is so awesome, lounging about, not even THINKING about homework or tests. Why why why do we have to go to school??? why why why do we get summer homework???"

Because lounging about sucks. It's boring as hell. So, in order to make up for that and to get us off the streets our country has instituted a law that says every child must attend school until a certain age. The theory is that by attending school we'll all come out intelligent and abled so that we can innovate and invent and push our country past its competitors.

Some theories just dont pan out though. Everyone remembers great names like Shakespeare and Newton and Euler and Plato etc. but how many great minds do we have today? Hawking? Back when school was optional we find more people to remember.
