Summary: Accidents happen, you have to keep reminding yourself.
Author’s Note: Wrote this sorta quick (quicker than my usual, anyways. since I'm such a perfectionist). I can’t stop this whole time-style thing I have going. I must find a theme/pairing that gets me out of this… :/ c/c appreciated x]
Accidents happen, you think, as you stare at the broken dishes and shattered cups and pieces and… It wasn’t your fault, really. You didn’t see the customer that shoved you on their way out.
Of course, you can’t really remember that it isn’t your fault when your supervisor is verbally abusing you.
This is your third job in six months and you really need it to support yourself until… until, your thoughts stop abruptly. You can’t dream too far yet.
“Someone pushed-“ you try to cut in, but that only makes things worse.
You’re fired after you clean up the mess.
-
Accidents happen, you think, after meeting Jongwoon. You bump into each other, or really, you trip and fall into his lap at a special violin concerto put on at your company to showcase a new talent.
That’s right. After you were fired, it gave you the courage to compete in a singing competition and win your way into SM Entertainment--‘cause what did you have to lose other than a broken down apartment where the rent was already overdue?
In a very lucky happenstance, it turns out that you’re both in the vocal program in the company, and from then on, the two of you are conjoined at the hip.
The both of you also end up training to debut in the same group.
-
Accidents happen, you contemplate, as the idea of sub-units are proposed to you and your fellow members.
It happened when the three of you were in the practice room singing songs from Super Junior’s second album in acapella.
“We should form the three of you into a ballad group,” Lee Soo Man-ssi told you. “You’d be really popular…”
Your company president walked away murmuring more ideas to himself.
Next thing you know, Super Junior has sub-unit projects to work on.
You, Yesung (Jongwoon), and Kyuhyun will be the first ones, known as the ballad sub-unit, because the three of you are the best singers of the bunch, with your soft, emotional tones and flowing vibratos.
Jongwoon smirks in that way that tells you that he knew he was the obvious choice; he later gives you a pat on the back, in that way that tells you he knew you were the other obvious choice.
Super Junior K.R.Y.-an acronym of your names, and a good indicator of what the group’s purpose would be.
More sub-groups sprout from there.

Accidents happen, you remember, as you see Jongw-no, it’s Yesung now-quietly walk away after seeing you on the floor under Henry, your fellow Super Junior M member-nice boy, but altogether too clumsy for his own good. Especially when you’re around.
You try to explain to Ye-no, it’s Jongwoon here-what really transpired, only to be answered by his cold back and steel reply. “What do you take me for, Ryeowook? Do you think I’m blind? I see what you do in China. Do you think I don’t?”
“But we’re all just-“
“No. I can’t just watch like this anymore.”
You can’t bring yourself to explain the loneliness there. The longing to call but fear that you’ll cry when you do and you don’t want to sound weak or as if you’re not enjoying the promotions there ‘cause that would just be not true and... SJM members only have each other in this place where most of you feel out of place and hated and loved and hated and out of the loop. Except Han Geng (and Siwon, you add silently to yourself) but he has all the responsibilities of being a leader and you do your best to care for everyone just like he does and it’s hard and it hurts to see everyone so lonely and…
You can’t help it.
It’s not betrayal (because nothing really happened), but Jongwoon (or is it Yesung?) makes you feel guilty anyways.

Accidents happen, and in ways you don’t really understand.
You lean on the couch in your dorm that you aren’t accustomed to any more-but it still feels somewhat familiar-and you see Yesung (or Jongwoon? You can’t really tell anymore) crashing through the door drunk out of his socks. Really.
“Wookie! You’re back!” He grins in that way he used to, before all the unhappiness (and jealousy, you wish secretly).
He stumbles over and ends up tripping over himself, landing on your lap. He makes himself comfortable in the crook between your thigh and torso, while making you uncomfortable because it tickles and it’s warm and you don’t know whether to laugh or cry or wonder about all-boys’ schools.
You decide to just stare at him, since he stops moving and falls asleep in five seconds flat. He must be pretty drunk, you realize, if he’s able to talk to you so comfortably after such a long absence and awkward goodbye.
“I missed you,” Jongwoon whispers.
You don’t know if that’s just drunk-talk or if he really means it, but you lock it away and treasure the memory for a long while to come.
-
You already know this, but you remind yourself that accidents happen. Because when you don’t, you fool yourself into thinking that fate and destiny play a part in things.
And you wouldn’t want to give it so much credit.
