KPOP MEME: Day 2
Meme, Day 2: Your favorite k-pop girl group
Haha, this is a tougher post 8| Not because I don't have favorites, but it's not as clear cut as boy groups for me are... Please don't take my uncertainty as "Oh look, another fangirl who doesn't like girl groups ~_~" but it's really more because girl groups are more well-matched and competitive, imho.
If I had to choose just one (and this pains me to choose between all these COMPLETELY FREAKING BOSS groups), the winner:
SNSD.
Okay, omgeezus, you cannot believe how long I sat here staring at the blinking cursor before typing my answer :(
I was having a srsly hard time choosing between SNSD, 2NE1, and Miss A. Of course, more high brow groups like CSJH, SES, and Brown Eyed Girls were very topnotch contenders too :( And unique groups like f(x) and 4minute had good runnings. But, in the end, I chose SNSD as my numero uno.
Can't quite pinpoint one reason for sure. Spose for one thing, they are one of the few girl groups of which I know ALL the members' names AND stage personas well enough to follow along and read fic for. And for another, they aren't beloved (and hated) all over the world for nothing. There are a shitton of reasons to love them, and probably only superficial reasons to absolutely hate them.
In stunning hindsight, I surprise myself in having become their fan because they are actually probably the image of everything I hated and yet everything that I had wanted to be when I was younger. I feel like I hated out my anger super young and that's why I'm so mellow now.
When I first heard of them, I was intrigued but not entirely attached. But it was so easy... even without watching SNSD specific varieties, I learned about them, and inadvertently read about them (profiles and fic lol), and found their songs utterly sickly sweet (AND CATCHY). Actually, I rememeber the first SNSD MV I ever watched, before I got into k-pop and before I even knew who Super Junior was, but I watched it because it was a TOP VIDEO on Youtube, and I'd wondered why on earth some Asian MV was making such a hit (lol before I knew that fans were like rocket fuel). Kissing You. tbph, I believe my first thoughts were "wth, why so many cute girls. how many are there here??? what is this one boy doing tossing around a lollipop" lol, didn't know who hae was, thought he was just some actor kid. and the comments about 'kyaa super junior's donghae oneoneoneeleven!!!' led me to believe that i didn't want to have anything to do with any of this. the beginning of the end.
Let's just say that I didn't find out who they were until I was somewhere between dbsk -> sj in my kpop ventures hokay. And it was then that I somehow realized that I did not dislike them and threw myself head on at their feet attached to long legs. lol
TL;DR, I chose SNSD BAMF over all other BAMF girl groups cause we have a history and I am loyal to the bitter end :'(
