Pop Fizz Mix

I've been working on this mix list for a long time. I forget how I came across the first song but it got me to find the second and after listening to them back to back a lot I started adding others. I'm not sure I'm 100% on it but I'm at last I'm pleased enough to put it on CD for personal use in my car. Here's the track list:
Pop Fizz Mix
  1. Cansei de Ser Sexy, "Let's Make Love and Listen to Death From Above"
  2. Death From Above 1979, "Dead Womb"
  3. Superwow, Unknown
  4. Grrropolis, "Fish Out Of Water"
  5. Robokoneko, "Brume"
  6. The Heat, "Sobering Up"
  7. Mechanik, "Star Voyager's Lament"
  8. Sonic Youth, "Song I Hate"
  9. Paucity, "Nevsky Prospect"
  10. Opposite Day, "Mr. Plain"
  11. Kompressor, "Red Robot Theme Song (Crush All Humans)
  12. Eno Diamond, Unknown
  13. Golden Shower, "Video Computer System"
  14. Care Bears, "Bank"
  15. Homestar Runner, "Everybody Everybody"
  16. Cop Shoot Cop, "Money Drunk"
  17. Electric Six, "Synthesizer"

  19. Cansei de Ser Sexy, "Alala"
  20. Man Or Astroman, "Sferic Waves"
  21. Copy, "Just Expect"
  22. Laura Gibson, "Hands In Pockets"

The idea is to compare and contrast recordings with a clean, crisp melodies with ones that have a buzzing drone. Also ones that are poppy and upbeat with ones that are grungy and downbeat. Each song was placed as a pair, just like the first two. It's fun. If you decide to roll your own Pop Fizz mix please let me know about it.

Several of these were free downloads when I got them and some might still be around. Do a few searches and see what turns up.

Many are from bands from Grand Rapids, MI and environs and a few of these I believe to be very obscure. Track three is track nine of "What's in the bottle?" a compilation of GR noise, experimental and electronica. I have another version of it recorded on one of Superwow's albums but it's not titled there either. In fact, it doesn't seem like Superwow ever got around to naming their tunes. Track twelve is track three of Eno Diamond Sings! and I don't believe Mr. Diamond is much on naming his songs either. Still, excellent music and well worth seeking out.

A few others are from artists in Portland, OR and I found them on the "PDX Pop Now" compilations which are relatively easy to get a hold of, at least in Portland.

Still others are random favorites from my collection just that happened to work.
