I work with a 39 year old man that likes D&D A LOT. He held a discussion on the topic once. I thought it sounded like fun. I wonder what his students thought, though.

Why not 1/3rd Elf, 1/3rd Dwarf, 1/3 human?

It'd take about five generations.

If a .5Human.5Dwarf had a child with a .5Human.5Elf it'd results in a .5H.25D.25E and a .5Elf.5Dwarf and a .5Human.5 Elf had a kid it'd be .25H.25D.5E if those two kids had a kid it'd be .38H.25Dwarf.38E. Now if that kid married a kid from a dwarf halfelf pairing (.25H.5D.25E) the end result would be .31H.38D.31E. Which is pretty close to 1/3 all around.

My problem with role playing games is that the rules always seem to get in the way of the story I want to tell, unless of course that story is one of killing things and taking their stuff, in which case the rules are of great help.
