What follows is a short list of vegetables which are also available in
purple, blue, or dark red.

For a meal fit for a prince, take a variety of these, chop them into
1/4 to 1/2 inch chunks and roast in the oven. Serve on a bed of
grains-we like buckwheat which can look purple if you look at it

1I understand, before the middle ages, the most
common carrot variety was a purple carrot with an orange core. We've
gotten these at the farmer's market, they're good, if funny looking.

broccoli.
3I suppose, technically, peppers are a fruit. The term
"vegetable" covers a broad category of foodstuffs. Listing peppers suggests
that I should list grapes, and many varieties of berry also. Make
