The gorilla mask story made me guffaw. Also this entire post was gold, as well as some pretty cool insights. I was forced to go to Chinese School as a child, and my results were similar, though instead of learning about religion, I learned how FUCKING HARD CHINESE LANGUAGE IS and how regretful I am that I did not stick with it, and how Mom Told Me So.

Oh man. I have mad respect for anyone who's familiar with any Chinese dialect. I'm pretty good at absorbing languages, but I'd never muster up the balls to study Chinese, period.

Hebrew LOOKS scary, but its alphabet translates beautifully into English. Almost every Hebrew character has an English equivalent!

I'm not gonna lie, Chinese is really hard. It's beautiful, but really difficult to learn, at least for me :(

Hebrew definitely looks scary. It's visually elegant, but it's so very daunting to look at. The idea of it having an English equivalent is heartening though, it seems a more natural transition.

As a person that spent a looooot of time in Sunday school, this was really enjoyable. I'm a little sad that we never had anything as awesome as your gorilla story happen, though..
