I'm auntie. For real now. She's called Karina and her official birthday is February 24th, 2008, 10:40 p.m. (edited - help, got the time wrong, sloppy aunt!)
Her birth came about so quick I'm still grappling with the concept. I mean, just yesterday my sister talked me out of visiting because it would be a waste of my scarce money as I was going to come see the baby soon as it was there, later, anyway. Well, looks like she'll have to have me now.
I'm happy and grateful that the little monster arrived sorta safely, and that my sis apparently is well, all things considered. But she had to be delivered by c-section after her heartbeats got weaker earlier today, and though we knew it would be an early and artificial birth - well not that early. I guess now we have to hope she pulls through the first weeks and grows and eats and all the stuff that babies do. And that she can get out of that sodding incubator as soon as possible so she can be snuggled and shown that she is loved and forget the stress of being born so early.
Here's to you, Minimonschter. Welcome to the world!
Oh, Austria just won the foreign language one. Yay, second German-ish film in a row! I've already forgotten who got female supporting actor... Marion Coutillard was really cute. Funny how a biopic is almost almost a sure winner, even if it's, well, foreign language. And the Once people, I totally rooted for them and their kitschy song. Because, unlike others, they were so unpretentious.
That's it for now.
Oh, and in descending order of happy news: The gig in May didn't come to pass due to a not-so-good deal too high pay demands on behalf of the band and its sometimes manager. Bond, here I come. Perhaps. But hey, at least I'm back to the perhaps from the no-no.
