Anyone interested in Bond?

Oh, oh, oh yeah! The new theatrical Quantum of Solace trailer is out, eight hours ahead of schedule, and in Spanish!

Luckily someone has youtubed it by now, so I don't need to link to the Spanish branch of Evil incorporated, msn.

The fangirl wibbles are not as big as I thought they'd be, though.

There's way too much focus on action, and less on drama. Back then when the Casino Royale theatrical was released, I was so bloody excited that the actual movie couldn't live up to my expectations. So maybe that's actually a good thing cos I might get the dark emotional stuff in the film. But then again, I love being spoiled! I don't mind if they give away the dramatic highlights in a trailer instead of a run-of-the-mill action collage! That approach also saves you money on stupid comedies, because you get all the jokes rolled up in the trailer and don't need to trudge along a dreadful 90 minutes.

Oh well, whatevs. I'll go watch it at the cinema anyway, so Sony doesn't have to lure me with the trailer. They do have to woo the younger, video-game-loving action fans, though, I guess, so yeah.

If it were up to me, they'd have put in more opera. :-D There is a nice shot of the Eye, at least, at 0:33, seen from above, with the iris down. Which means that a bit of the second act will be in, observed from Mr. Greene's VIP lounge. I'm such a geek.

All the Bond excitement reminds me of the Potter excitement that those capitalist sods at WB stole away. I'd so have loved it to finally get a great cinematic November again, with Bond and Potter! Summer blockbuster, my bum. We need cinema when it's cold and rainy outside, plus, the good films are supposed to be released end of the year, even if they're as mainstream as it gets. (And by now they've even done test screenings, how cynical is that? Grrrmph.

I did have a great Potter moment after church on Sunday, though. Two members of the church band (nice, bourgeois ladies in their early forties) where discussing the meaning of the word "pipe bomb" or if it should be "time bomb" after all, and I said I knew there is a pipe bomb with the Potter Puppet Pals - and a few seconds later we were all singing The Mysterious Ticking Noise together. Turns out they just discovered it a few days ago. Much Potterific fun ensued. One of the two is an elementary teacher and she'll try it out with her class. It was so wonderful to watch those two enthuse about Potter. Also, German-version fans may be slow, but eventually the goods reach them as well.

But we also do love us our cheesy French mini series. Ack, I want this out on DVD, but can't find it anywhere. Except on a dodgy bit torrent site. I mean, I would pay, so why doesn't anyone sell?? The airdate was two months ago, but France 2 doesn't seem interested in further distribution despite many fans asking for a release.

EDIT: As of 20 minutes ago, official and in English. And yahoo beat msn to it. Yay! I might reconsider some of my earlier statements.

That ... thing looks like retro SF, somehow.

Eye spy with my blue Eye.

Poor puppy Bond. Give him a hug already.
