My grandmother passed away last night about 6:45. My mother and I were with her in the hospital. She developed pnemonia after a bout with a stomach virus last weekend, and had not been responsive since Sunday. I got in on Thursday but she never regained consciousness or seemed to have any awareness. It was awful to witness and a mercy for her

Oh sweetie - I'm so sorry. Am I terrible that I also feel sort of relieved for you and your mom? It wasn't a burden for either of you to bear.

I'm sure she's with your Grandad now, so while I know it's hard to lose someone you have loved for so long, you are right in that it was a mercy for her to be released from her pain.
