I'll go with the sixth option -- since when is it a matter of drama that the grown children would argue over who is the most appropriate to announce their parents' wedding?
I concur. This sort of thing is a problem? Normally the couple puts in a notice commensurate with their age and dignity, which I'm guessing in this case may well be in inverse proportion.
Actually, that was just a guess---my mom thought that the grown children of the couple were not in agreement/support of the wedding and there might have been hard feelings if one side announced proudly! Pure speculation on my part.
Needless to say, it was more of a "only in Madison" thing.
As I generally find even regular wedding announcements bizarre (I mean why do total strangers need to know that you are getting married and won't your friends find out soon enough anyway?), I'm probably not a good judge - but I voted it would have been OK if the cat had placed it!
