At long last: My beef with Cesar Millan. In comprehensive form!

Dec 09, 2010 09:45

I've long spouted my disdain for the man who calls himself The Dog Whisperer. Finally, I have found the time and inclination to sit down and write down exactly WHY I hate him and consider him a fraud. My professor didn't like this article because I was "too biased" and it sounded too much like a "personal rant" and that I was not an "expert ( Read more... )

Thanks. :D I feel very strongly about the subject, so it was definitely worth the time/effort. I'm just glad that there are a few people out there that will read it and if I can change a few opinions on the guy, I consider it an accomplishment.

Like I said, I cut the personal bias out of the final draft I submitted to my prof. But an academic world LJ is not. And this being my journal, I am comfortable with sounding personally biased for the sake of giving the reader a fuller picture of Cesar's culpability in this whole clusterfuck.

Juxtaposing my own experience is a good suggestion, if that had been what was allowed for the assignment. As is, I didn't want to entirely re-write a paper that's already been written. If I were seriously thinking about publishing this, yes, I can definitely see your point.

But I'm lazy and in college and this whole freaking journal is one personal rant after another. This one just happens to have scientific fact behind it. I see no issue with combining the two in an informal setting such as this.

But I will definitely keep your suggestion in mind for the future; because you're right. If this were any other medium I wouldn't dream of presenting this due to the bias.

This is completely amazing, and I think I'm going to save this link and very possibly pass it on to certain animal lover friends...especially those who believe in that man due to NG's endorsement.

...some owners do not take seriously the task of dog-on-dog socialization in the critical early stages of life. This would be my dog's problem. *sighs*

You also ruined many a dream by kicking the alpha bit. :)

Feel free! I've made the entry public, so people whom aren't on my friends' list can view it too. It's crazy how many people fall into his black hole of craziness. It never ceases to amaze me that out of all of the super-star dog trainers out there who do it every day and do it the right way are stuck off in the wings while this guy flaunts his lack of education. Blech.

Did you adopt your dog?

Ahaha. Yeah, the whole alpha thing seriously needs to go anyway. It's so ten years ago. XD

I thought those were the ones that stuck out in every genre. Sarah Palin, anyone?

I took her in when she was older, yeah. She's still the most socially retarded dog I've ever known.
