As If It Were Possible for Me to Be More Anti-Gun than I Already Am...

Sep 24, 2009 05:58

Last night, Richie, Chad, and I were planning on playing D&D. It was getting late, however, and since Mom was probably heading off to bed and Ebony barks if nobody's downstairs with her, I asked that we relocate from Chad's place to mine in order to avoid Mom having to sleep in a recliner chair instead of her bed ( Read more... )

ya'll are okay. Sucks to have that illusion of safety at home shattered, but at least physically, you walked away unharmed. I've heard too many stories of people being killed when they didn't have anything to give a mugger.

Yeah. Truth is, though, this dude wouldn't have had the balls to pull the trigger, really. I mean, we were smart enough not to take the chance, but the odds are, he was just some punk-ass kid with a gun that made him feel big. In retrospect, the probability that the thing wasn't even loaded is pretty high.

He didn't get my cigarette. The dude was changing topics faster than socks, by the time I told him I only had one he went on to something else. Ha ha, so of course, I kept it.

Oh, my mistake. Good. Fuck-face... Oh, y'know what? I can't by any means be sure, but you might remember a kid on Maple Street that used to heckle us practically every time we walked to my house back when we were in high school. Couldn't have been more than twelve, thirteen years old at the time. I have a suspicion that our mugger was that kid all growed up. I dunno, but I'm gonna keep my eyes peeled; there's a high probablility, anyway, that he lives in the neighborhood.

I don't think so, this one was a little more stree rat than the punk from years ago, he didn't look the same. I looked him in the face. I think that's the main thing to remember in all this.

A gun was pulled and we didn't cower, nor did we plead.
We stared the boy right in the eyes and told him we had nothing. And it was us that walked away, he may have told us to leave, but it was only because we were already walking away, and he "commanded" us to so he could retain a semblance of control.
He had less than he realized.

Don't get cocky.

If you get shot up by some fuckface kid, I will never forgive you. If you survive, I will kill your ass myself.

Seriously. Don't tempt fate, people do stupid shit when you push them, especially if they feel like they have something to prove.

Be careful, okay? If something happened to you, I dunno what I'd do.

*hugs!!!* Oh man. I am so incredibly glad you all are okay. Thanks to God for protecting you, I guess.

Please, please be careful. Don't try to be macho even if the guy isn't armed. If all they do is take your money, you're not out that much--the important thing is your life. I don't know what I would do if something happened to any of you.

Thanks for your concern. I appreciate it.

Don't worry, though; there isn't a macho bone in my body. I'm not saying I would've brutalized the kid if he didn't have a gun. I was stating that I could have (the implication being that that's saying something because I'm not particularly tough) merely to illustrate the point that all of his confidence came from the fact that he was packing heat, and guns are bullshit.

Chris told me about this the other day. That's some scary shit. *shivers* I'm just glad you three are okay. I really do hope they catch the bastard whether by your description or due to something else he might pull (though I hope if he continues to pull that kind of shit, no one gets hurt.) *Hugs everyone tightly...even Richie who I've only ever seen once in passing* Once again, glad you guys are okay.

Incidentally, that's exactly what happened. They robbed a Quality Market ten minutes later, so they are pretty much done for.

That's great! (Not that they robbed a Quality Market, obviously, but that they were caught.)I hope they spend a good few years in prison thinking about what they've done.

Well, they haven't been caught just yet (that I know of), but they've got security photos from the Quality robbery, and all three of us were able to give a positive I.D. on the guy, so it's only a matter of time, I think.
