After telling his mates he'd meet with them after he'd transformed, Remus went to meet Madame Pomfrey. Professor McGonagall had made sure one of his detentions was during the full moon, citing that 'any punishment paled in comparison'.
He entered the ward and Poppy was already sniffing. "You poor thing, every month. Well, at least the injuries aren't as severe." Her smile was watery. "Last month a few broken ribs...that's not right, but it's better."
They walked through the tunnel and she did what she always had almost every month for six years. Poppy hugged Remus and whispered, "Be safe Remus." He hugged her back and smiled, never promising what he couldn't.
Remus walked into the Shack and heard the door lock. He saw the light of day fading in the window as his skin became tighter.
Bones broke and reshifted, eyes changed and became feral, skin stretched and grew fur.
In his fading moments as Remus, he despaired. In his first moments as the wolf he threw back his head and sang. It was a calling to his pack.
The wolf sang of his hurry to be off and to Explore and Play. He sang of his love for the white goddess he loved - the moon.
