So today being Remembrance Day, I tuned into my local CTV affiliate to watch the wreath layings at the Cenotaph in Vancouver. My Grand father is remembered there so it's quite a big thing for me. When I was little, my mom and dad used to insist that we would watch CTV news. I went along with it on the assumption that the news on one TV station was the same as the news on any other station. (I was little.)

One day, CTV covered a fire at some family's house. The father had gotten out, or maybe gotten home ahead of the fire truck. So did the CTV video crew. The fire was mostly out by then. This poor guy was wandering around the burnt-out shell of his house where the charred, twisted bodies of his wife and kids lay; he was obviously in shock. They stuck a camera in his face and asked him if there was anybody still inside. All he could do was sob.

I know this because those crude bastards put it on the air! I have never, ever watched CTV news since then, or any of their other shows, and I never will. And from your description, it looks like CTV is using the same standard of journalistic sensitivity today.
