"crazy chains that dangle from poles with rubber tips, so that you can run around and around with the chain and then grab hold of the slippery, vertical rubber and cling for dear life while you get flung in circles around the pole"

We had those on my elementary school playground. We called them ring-a-rounds - and I did sprain my ankle on one quite badly when I was five. I loved those deadly suckers. Although ours didn't have rubber tips, they had two horizontal rusty metals bars that you held onto. The bars were loose tubes that slid back and forth on the chains underneath, so you could throw in the joys of pinching your skin between the bar and the chain as the centrifugal force whipped you around.

And now, playgrounds have foam padding. FOAM PADDING!! I despair for the fate of humanity.

I'm noticing that a lot of what you miss is from Sackville. I miss Sackville too, but whenever I go back it's not the same and it makes me sad and feel old.

Part of that is a result of the reunion being last weekend, and people posting pictures. But even with that, I have to say that my Sackville years were the best of my life so far, over all. I just loved Mt A and the university lifestyle. Everything felt like an adventure.
