First things first. The linoleum guy came today. We went by after work to see the handiwork. And we are confused. Why?

That just sucks. Both things. I'm glad he quickly offered to replace the flooring, though. Looks like he thought you meant the third from the left in your photo as opposed to the second from the left? Ugh. Those are VERY different. But, thankfully, it will be fixed.

As for the carpets, I would have FREAKED. I'm very glad you found a way to solve that problem too, because replacing decent carpeting, especially on such short notice, would have made me cry FOR you.

Being a new homeowner sounds too stressful for me right now, that's for sure! I hope everything else goes very smoothly for you, and these mishaps will be laughable stories soon.

The mistake wasn't even that simple - the one on my floors is actually not in the picture at all. It looks like faux cork. Because, you know, all the classy people want their floors to look like... cork.

There are some surprisingly lovely floors made from real cork available now, but then, they don't tend to look so much like cork.
At least this gives you stories to tell?
