I'm really sick of Chinese songs, with the saccharine-i-want-to-throttle-them-sweet vocals that affirms love should be filled with noble sacrifices; it was not so long ago when I was still of the variety who rejects reality for the absolute spotless type of love, never accepting anything less than immaculate professions and honeymoon imagery. I think my problem with current Chinese music is how 'uncatchy' the music/lyrics are these days. Especially the music! How could pop not be catchy?! I'm puzzled. At least with ridiculous manufactured US/Brit pop, I remember tunes in spite of myself. XD

Isn't there a science behind making hits? I think I caught something on okto and it pointed how generally ABBA's songs had this formula behind their arrangement, which would propel them into the charts, even today.

Needless to say, I was left pretty flabbergasted.

If only this was an *actual* subject we could do in school.

Oh yes!! I heard about the formula and how ABBA uses it too!! But I don't know the details. LOL. (okto airs some really good stuff!) Right? If only we could study that! I've always wanted to learn songwriting!

Seriously though. Current Chinese pop has NO TUNE. (Except the divas lah. They get the good writers. XD)

I think it's cos the chinese songs nowadays are supposedly modelled after "RnB" or "HIP HOP" or some such blackie ghetto nonsense.

Pop must be catchy mah, or else mana ada pop muzik right? :p
