War

I keep thinking about the conflicts in the Middle East, and I don't understand. what the hell is war used for? Isn't it to make a point, support an ideal, or to free (or oppress) people. Can't all this be done with talking. Why did the Hezbollah kill the Israeli soldiers? Couldn't they have gotten the Israeli's attention easier? Sometimes smacking ( Read more... )

sorry, it's 5:40 in the morning, and i feel like boring you with my opinion. grneyedaltlady July 24 2006, 10:43:31 UTC
people are stupid and selfish, and the really stupid and selfish ones
flock together and wreak havoc. i personally think "the holy land"
shouldn't be inhabited by anyone...religion, instead of promoting
peace, causes people to fight eachother with little reason (crusades,
anyone?)

but, of course, people are products of circumstance. people in the
middle east fight because they have kind of been conditioned (woah
Brave New World flashback) to do so.

so now we can kind of blame it on society (yay!). people are stupid and
selfish and the government promotes it to get what it wants.

now we can be hippies together, man. alright.

Hey listen to the John Mayer son "Waiting on the world to change". I think it explains a good position on the world.
Hey at least in many years to come we will be ruling the world and lets hope that we, unlike our predecessors, will not be blind to the state of the world.
I'm fully liking the Hippie.

It's human nature. War, killing, rather than compromise or attempts to get along. Sure, war is stupid and horrific, but humans are only animals, what can you expect?

(Sorry to sound so depressing, it's probably just because my boyfriend broke up with me last night. I tossed a hand grenade through his bedroom window, though, and now I feel much better. Like I said, human nature.)

WTF? Boyfriend? When did this happen you loser?

On the animal note, yes all humans are animals but they have brains larger than a pea. Our large brains help us RATIONALIZE things. So we dont have to feel like going around and ripping someone's guts out just because they 'tresspassed' on our territory, religious or otherwise.

"Our large brains help us RATIONALIZE things"...all evidence to the contrary.

Chess is war. It's a strategical game that's based off actual warfare. And I always lose, which proves that I should never pursue a military career.

Like mary_laura said, it's human nature. And we have to deal with it. War has been a part of life since before Biblical times. It's part of Satan's vendetta against God. With the apple came war and all the other horrors of the world. Or with the box, whichever you prefer.
