When guys take a solid hit to the groin, they usually fall to the ground, go fetal, and roll back and forth grimacing and yowling. Sure, the stones hurt too, but more pain is actually higher up, just inside the hip bones. The nerves at the hip joint explode, and the knees give out ( Read more... )

I was told by a person of your gender, that when a guy is kicked in the nads, the pain doesn't kick in for 30 seconds. So get the hell out of there, 'cause he's mad but not yet incapacitated.

Not true?

I was told in my very rigorous self defense class (read: smacking the instructor who was in riot gear) that it doesn't work (as in, doesn't incapacitate) in all men either, and is in fact not the best way to defend yourself.

It's hard to get a guy in the nuts. By the time we're through junior high, we've all developed waist-turning instincts whenever anything comes flying at our groin. So I certainly wouldn't count on it in a self-defense situation.

And yeah it can take a little while for the pain to build. If you've ever seen a guy take a blow to the balls, there's usually a few seconds of "I can take it! I can take it....!....I CAN'T TAKE IT!". Tae Kwon Do classes probably provide the best viewing potential. That, and Robot Chicken.

Hrm. If my work didn't block access to YouTube, I'd be able to search for real-life examples.
