I'm 35 years old. I wear "tri-focals" or multi-focals as they call them now. There are different zones in my glasses for reading, monitor/computer work, and for driving/long distance seeing. At first, i was upset, too. I asked Amo to get me the ones with no lines, so no one would know. I was horrified that, at 35, I needed these "old people" glasses.
Know what? I LOVE my glasses! You can't tell they're multi-focal lenses. I can see way more than I used to. I don't have to squint to go between the dashboard of the car, to the street signs. I can read a book with my glasses on and NOT get a headache. The pros are endless. It takes a bit of getting used to, and the price was a bit higher than for plain old bifocals, but man was it worth it. Every penny.
You can see me with mine on in the picture. :) They aren't so bad, honest.

They take a little getting used to, but they are so worth it for reducing eyestrain (beside the distance issues I have astigmatism and a lazy eye)
