The Hawaiian culture is very much about the ohana, or family. Anyone with smile and a warm heart is called auntie, uncle, or cuz and brought into your ohana.
People here are so proud of the Obama ohana and feel connected to them through the shared spirit of aloha. Sounds a little corny, but there's definitely something to it!
I agree. It does feel real good. I'm proud to be an American for the first time in a while :-)
