A little off subject. however. I've been thinking about buying a gun. Not for any particular reason. Other then I have been thinking about buying one for some time and if you don't exercise your rights you will eventually lose them. Anyway I wonted to know your thoughts on these five handguns. Durability, ease of cleaning, reliability, safety. These are the ones that I am considering. Overall I'm leaning toward the Springfield 1911 or s/w 1911.

Kitten actually brings up quite a few good points despite being a little cutie. I personally do not care for 9mm’s because of the performance of the round. Now while you have not specified the man use for your weapon, ALL firearms are designed to kill and a 9mm round has, objectively, a very poor single shot mortality rate. That and the tendency for the round to continue through the target into areas where you might not want a round to go (i.e. your bedroom or your neighbors house) just doesn’t make it my caliber of choice
( ... )
You know, you ARE right about them (Baretta's and Glocks) jamming, from what I've been told. I haven't used one personally because every time I picked one up I thought "ick" and moved on... I just HATE how they feel! And yes, they ARE very much overpriced. Springfield has a lifetime warranty on most models too... which makes it worth the cost.

For me weapon concealment is a none issue. In Maryland you need to have been raped three times, stalked and stabbed twice before they will issue you a concealed carry permit. A (muzzle suppressor to help with recoil) isn’t that called a compensator? Anyway the next tricky part is to find an FFL in Maryland that wont gouge me to bad. I have always been leery of pawnshops. I’ve seen listings for the 1911 long-slide Springfield vary up to 40% on line. (To bad Marylanders can’t buy out of state Handguns) Be careful what you offer Damien. An open invitation is a dangerous thing. How’s next weekend. Weather should be good and it’s one tank of gas down to your place and one tank back. All I have to work out is a place to sleep before the drive back on Sunday. (Hint Hint) PS: Damien, don’t feel bad. Your hands are propionate to your diminutive stature. (jab)
