Well i got to love intermittent problems they are such a PAIN in the arse to track down, after playing around and tracking problems down and repairing / replacing parts that were suspect or could cause the issue i found the problem in an unusual place... the form of an intermittent sensor, not only did this bleeder fail but 90% of the time it didn' ( Read more... )

17 mpg? I thought that rotaries were supposed to be relatively economical these days?

i wish :/ they are real gas guzzlers. perhaps economical compared to a V12 - car is runing sweeter and isnt bogging down at idle now so it can only be good :)

Do they still have total loss lubrication systems, like the NSU Ro80 had, meaning that you have to top the oil up every 500 miles or so?

Yeah the engines still drink oil for fun, injecting ammounts into the rotor housing to make a film for the tips to 'float' across. its quite funny thought mazda has made a hydrogen powered rotary some time ago. potentialy from the worst economy to the best.
