I just ran across the Times top 100 book list from 2005.  It covered the period from when Time began [1923] to October 16 2005 [date of publication].

Of the 100 books listed I had, to memory, heard of 27, own 8 and have read 5.  I know, shame on me for having 3 that I haven't yet read [have you seen my to be read pile?] Oh, and a number of the 'have

I've read 12; it seems unlikely that I've heard of more than you have.

(I'm not sure I should count The Lord of the Flies, which I read as a kid and don't remember much of.)
