The wonderful part about growing wiser with age is that the natural reservations one learns to gain when giving trust leads one to be much more likely to catch lies, be it with proof or mearly by feeling them out. The wonderful part about being a politician means one is less likely to let on what lies those are or what proof one has.

I do a lot involving lie detection and people who lie. The thing that always helps me is this: people only lie to attain a reward or avoid punishment. The reward may be great or minute, and the same goes for the punishment, but there's no other motivation for falsehood.

When forced to wade into the dark waters of those who deceive, just try to keep your eyes on what it is they want and what it is they fear, and their lies will often become all too apparent.
